Aiper Scuba S1 Review: Can This Robot Really Clean Your Pool?

But with so many options on the market, how do you know which one is right for you? We recently put the Aiper Scuba S1 to the test to see if it lives up to the hype.

How Is The Cleaning Performance?

The Aiper Scuba S1 impressed us with its cleaning prowess. It effectively tackled both our pool's floor and walls, leaving no visible debris behind.  We especially liked that it uses a methodical cleaning pattern instead of the random bumping around you see with some other robotic pool cleaners.  Aiper calls this technology WavePath 2.0 Smart Navigation, and it ensures that every inch of your pool gets a good scrub.

During our testing phase, we cleaned our rectangular 10 x 40-foot pool three times in a month. Each time, the Scuba S1 delivered the same stellar performance, leaving our pool sparkling clean.  The first cleaning cycle took a bit longer, clocking in at around two hours. This was likely because it had to deal with a significant amount of leftover construction debris like dirt and silt.  Thankfully, subsequent cleanings were much faster, taking only about 90 minutes each.

Is It Simple to Set Up?

Unlike some robotic pool cleaners that boast fancy Wi-Fi connectivity and smartphone app controls, the Scuba S1 keeps things refreshingly simple.  There are no complex setup procedures or confusing menus to navigate.  Just pop it in the pool, press the button, and let it work its magic.

While some might miss the ability to control the cleaner remotely, we actually found this lack of "smart" features to be a plus.  It means there's less to worry about setting up and maintaining, and the Scuba S1 still manages to clean the pool efficiently thanks to its built-in smart navigation technology.

Is Removing the Pool Cleaner Easy?

Our only real complaint with the Scuba S1 is related to removing it from the pool after cleaning.  While the cleaner itself weighs around 20 pounds when dry, it feels significantly heavier once it's filled with water.  This can make it a bit of a challenge to lift out, especially for those with limited upper body strength.

The Scuba S1 does have a quick water evacuation function that helps expel some of the water before lifting.  However, we found it necessary to first lift it to the waterline, hold it there for a moment to allow the water to drain, and then finally remove it completely.  Thankfully, the Scuba S1 is compatible with any standard pool pole thanks to its built-in hook, so you won't need to purchase a special accessory.

Is It Worth Buying?

Overall, the Aiper Scuba S1 is a fantastic choice for pool owners who want a powerful and easy-to-use robotic pool cleaner.  Its methodical cleaning pattern ensures a spotless pool, and the lack of complex features makes it a breeze to operate.  While removing the Scuba S1 from the pool after cleaning requires a bit more effort due to its weight when full of water, this minor inconvenience is easily outweighed by the cleaner's overall cleaning performance and user-friendly design.
